The Alkarama Foundation warmly invites you to attend the press conference launching its report analysing the evolution of the human rights situation in Egypt since the lifting of the Emergency Law on 31 May 2012.

The press conference will take place on Thursday 21 February 2013 in Cairo, Taha Hussein hall at the Journalists Syndicate, at 12:00 a.m.

In its report, Alkarama sought to monitor and assess the human rights practices in Egypt in the six months period following the termination of the state of emergency, from June to November 2012. The report also provides legal analysis of the draft laws announced during this period, which many considered to be attempts at reviving the Emergency Law under a different name. The report further lists violations documented by the media and civil society in this six-month period.

The conference will be attended by a number of Egyptian human rights activists, as well as representatives from the Alkarama Foundation in Geneva; Mr Rachid Mesli, Legal Director, and Mr. Michael Romig, Development Officer.
