Libya: Arbitrary detention of MP Hassan SALEM and his brother Mohamed before the UN

On July 10, 2024, Alkarama submitted the case of Mr. Hassan SALEM, a Libyan MP, and his brother, Mr. Mohamed SALEM, to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD). Both were arrested by the RADAA militias (Special Deterrence Forces) and are currently detained at the Mitiga airport site, which is under their control.

Libya: The arbitrary detention of Abdurrahman AL FARJANI before the UN Working Group

On 24 April 2024, Alkarama submitted to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention the case of Abdurrahman Abduljalil Mohamed AL FARJANI, arrested on 27 December 2014 at his home in the Al Lithi neighbourhood by an armed militia affiliated to Khalifa Haftar.

LIBYA: ABDELHAKIM IMBARAK MUHAMMAD ALI (AL MECHERI) RELEASED AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF ARBITRARY DETENTION

On Sunday, 10 March 2024, the Special Deterrence Forces (SDF) in Libya released Abdelhakim Imbarak Muhammad Ali, also known as "Abdelhakim AL MECHERI," after nearly eight years of arbitrary detention without judicial proceedings, Alkarama learned from its sources.
